The site is primarily a photo journal of the trails I've cycled in my area. By linking several communities on one site I hope to share with other cyclists the joy of exploring beyond any one area. Since cycling allows a slower pace to take in the surroundings, I've also tried to share some of the background interest I've discovered along the way. Eventually, as I get feedback and explore other paths and trails I hope that the site will encompass all of Southern Ontario. Happy Trails.
The site is very much under construction but if you want to send a comment or suggestion email me at:
In the workplace, since insurance premiums are tied to number of accidents, safety has risen significantly in priority. Cycling safety would also improve if it were somehow similarly related to fewer accidents. In addition to the safety links provided on the resources page of this site consider the following tips I've picked up.
One of my favorite responses is when I'm on road and approaching a plaza or parking lot entrance/exit way. If I see a motorist approaching to leave the exit - I try to make eye contact. If I don't, I put on the brakes and come to a full stop just short of the exit/entrance. You'd be surprised how often the motorist will be 2 feet or 3 feet into the roadway and only then turns to look for a break in oncoming traffic. The expression when he notices a bike stopped feet away from the side of the car and finally makes eye contact is priceless. That's one more predictable accident that didn't happen.
