The Tommy Thompson park is open from 9 AM to 6 PM on weekends and Holidays. The rest of the time, it is an active land fill site with dump trucks rolling along extending the park. The path runs along the peninsula of the park and you can see beautiful views of the Toronto Harbour and of the Toronto Islands until it eventually forks around an inland small lake. Either route will end up rejoining on the other side of the lake.   The route near the lake is a little easier to ride as the other (shorter) harbour side route crosses a small bridge at the lake's inlet. The trail is through one of the largest bird sanctuary. Many people come here just to watch the birds. The paths rejoins on the other side of the inland lake where the path continues to Vicki Keith Point Lighthouse at the end of the path.
