Oakville - McCraney Valley - Nipigon Trail
|Trail:||BikePath / Bike Lane - Some crushed limestone|
From 6th line, turn east along Sewell Drive unit it ends on McCraney St. and you're facing the entrance to the McCraney trail. Cross McCraney and enter the trail as it runs a short distance behind the houses and the west bank of the creek only to curve back out on McCraney near Romain Crescent.
Head up West along the bike lane on McCraney a short distance then enter back into the woods at the Sheridan College McCraney Valley Trail entrance.
Climb down the stairs and cross the pedestrian bridge then head north, following the creek on your left (west) and the College on your right (east). Continue along the trail as it crosses over the creek by several pedestrian bridges and stay north.
Stay down in the valley, heading north, and ignore the crossing trails and bridges (they just connect the College with the sports fields). Eventually the trail winds it's way up to Upper Middle Road. Turn east (right) and ride on sidewalk along Upper Middle and cross at the lights at Martindale and Oakmead. You'll see to the north east corner the beginning of another short bike path (The Pipeline trail). Ignore it for now!
Cross Upper Middle and double back westward and enter the Nipigon trail on the western side of the creek (there is also a short trail that follows the eastern side up the creek). Ride along the path with the residential back yards on one side and the creek on the other. Where there is a little clearing, notice the lagoon like swamp and the many different wild flowers and birds that reside there. The trail soon exits onto sixth line south of River Oaks Blvd. Ride north along the sixth line bike lane a short distance up to the lights at River Oaks Blvd and on the east side of River Oaks, (right) head back into the Nipigon Trail once again.
Ride along the path, again a short distance, as it exits onto Munns Ave. Turn north along Munns and continue a short distance and you come to the junction of the Crosstown pipeline trail. To continue along the Nipigon Trail, turn east and head down to the creek and across the pedestrian bridge to it's eastern side.
Turn north and follow that path as the trail winds it way north up to the reservoir across Glenashton Dr. at end of the trail in Oak Park.
